barnabie point project
Seattle, WA
projected completion 2027

The Barnabie Point project is a three-story mixed-use building housing a Preschool–8 private school and chapel/multipurpose space, with community nonprofit rental space on the upper levels. The building is west of the existing Herzl-Ner Tamid synagogue, on a campus-like site that extends from the arterial road to the lake. This shared campus environment supports education, worship and community life, bringing multiple institutions together under one roof.

The program and layout of the building was developed through close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including school leadership, the synagogue community, and community nonprofits. The design balances the needs of teaching and learning with worship and special events. Careful attenionattention was paid to creating distinct, secure entries and circulation paths for each use.

The design is inspired by the forms and colors of the existing synagogue building and the surrounding landscape. It steps down the hill to the north, creating a working terrace for science and art, and a punch of color defines the recessed main entry to the south.
